I don’t know about the rest of
you, but I am really excited about the future.
Not just because Madden 2004
comes out in another month, but because of the growth of this
site, and all the positive feedback we have been getting.
Here’s just a smattering of the
e-mails I have been getting as of late:

Hey Mr. Gandolfo
I just wanted to say that I
really enjoy your website very much! We serious PC football
gamers are pretty fortunate to have such a great site for news,
tips, latest driver downloads, etc. But I really like the
downloads for artwork and other things for PC footballers! Your
site has made my Madden 2003 playing experience that much more
enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
Yours
Truly,
M.
Smith
===========================================
I’m glad that there are a lot
more PC Gamers out there that really care about playing quality
games like we do. I’m glad that more and more people are
discovering this site and all that it has to offer.
I’m especially glad that these
people are ignoring what has been said about us in the past and
deciding to find out for themselves just what we are all about.
On that note let me just say that
everyone should expect some more changes in the weeks to come.
The General Partnership has already raised the possibility of a
new banner and possibly a new look for the site. I wouldn’t be
adverse to that because it would be a good way to keep this site
fresh and exciting to even more newcomers.
Are you listening Scot Rubin?
In any case, there have been
members of the partnership who have expressed an interest in
helping out with whatever redesign plans we may come up with.
One partner has already been given the keys to the controls and
I’m excited to see what he will come up with. The only thing
is because of how the site was set up, you may not see a
universal change happen all at once. It may take place one page
at a time which means it could happen very slowly.
Actually at this point in time I
am very grateful for the help, as a lot of my energies have had
to be spent in my search for new employment. As many of you know
I was laid off this last December. The day after my birthday as
a matter of fact, how’s that for irony? My former employer
told me that they really wanted to bring me back since I did
such a good job for them, but they wouldn’t be able to do it
until April or May.
Guess what? They never called.
So now my wife and I are getting
down to the wire. We have a mortgage that we have to make
payments on, not to mention medical insurance premiums, house
insurance, car insurance, grocery bills, electric bills, gas
bills, water and trash bills, phone bills, cable bills….
…well, you get the idea.
Bottom line is our monthly
expenses are around $2,400 a month, and my unemployment check is
only $824 a month. So to make up the difference we have had to
dip into our savings, and that is almost gone. So now we are
faced with the decision of having to lose the house that I grew
up in, or possibly rent it out to someone who would like to live
in a good neighborhood, close to schools, 3 bedrooms, 2
bathrooms, family room, fireplace, hardwood floors, new
plumbing, central heat and air, two car garage with a front and
backyard for only $3,000 a month.
Yeah I know, but it doesn’t
hurt to ask.
That said I can imagine some of
you are wondering how I am going to be able to pay for this site
if my finances are this bad. Don’t worry, I am going to set
aside a little something every month so that this site will
still be able to pay its own bills, which is all of $7.95 a
month.
So as you can see, I’m grateful
that some of my partners are more than willing to take some of
the duties off my hands. Cross your fingers for me guys, I had
two job interviews this past week, and I will hear from one of
them come Monday. Hopefully I will be earning a paycheck soon.
If I am then that means that I
will be able to purchase Madden 2004 on August 12th
without feeling so damn guilty about it. I mean, when I’m
telling my wife to watch her spending right now, how can I
justify my purchase of a $40 video game?
No seriously, I’m asking, how
do I justify this?!? I have to come up with some really creative
reasoning for getting this new piece of software that won’t
tick her off or have her buy something in retaliation. Like
another crystal swan…
Anyway, I’m still giddy over
the fact that Jeremy Strauser answered our questions for us not
too long ago. I don’t know how many times I can say this, but
thank you Jeremy. Not only for answering our questions, but for
listening to us whenever we express our desires for the next
edition of Madden. I’m going to kick myself until August for
not asking if the accelerated clock was still in the game or
not.
Oh well, I guess I’ll have to
find out with the rest of you.
Now, can anybody loan me $39.99
plus tax? I’ll pay you back…………
Until next time…
