The sources I am using to get the actual numbers are...
An Allteams roster from Madden 2002 (author unknown).
Lindy's Pro Football Alminac - 1994, 95, 96, 97, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002 and
2003.
The Sports Encyclopedia: Pro Football, 17th edition, 1974-1998.
The Sports Encyclopedia: Pro Football, The Complete history of Professional
NFL Football from 1892 to the Present.
Street & Smith's Pro Football Alminac - 1992, 90, 87, 82, 81, 79, 76, 75, 70.
Rosters from Sierra's Football Pro '99.
Rosters from XOR Corporation's NFL Challenge - 1984, 85, 88, 89.
This is the culmination of a project that I started with Madden 2000. I began
to notice that on the All-Time teams a lot of the numbers, weights and heights
could be applied to actual players. So I decided to figure out who these
players were and give them their true names. So using The Sports Encyclopedia's
that I had, I matched up height and weight for the players on the respective
teams by position going back to the 1920's. Needless to say it took a long time
to match them up, but it was well worth it. I put all of this data onto an Excel
sheet that I can refer to whenever I wish. I have now done the same with all of
the Classic Teams and I am filling those out as I write this.
I have also done my best to try to create some old stadiums to be played along
with some of the classic rosters. They are included at the end of this roster
file. They read as teams in the roster editor, but all you have to do is select
these stadiums when you play an exhibition game. The stadiums are:
Anaheim Stadium - Rams-Ana
L.A. Coliseum - Rams-LA
Busch Stadium - Cardinals-StL
Astrodome - Oilers
Memorial Stadium - Colts-Blt
Metropolitan Stadium - Vikings-Met
Now, as for the slider settings, the following two files deal with slider settings
for Madden 2005:
- Slider Settings.xls contains slider settings you could use for
each of the teams you'd want to play in the game. Just pick your
teams and change the Human sliders to match the team you want to
play. Then just do the same thing with your CPU settings.
For example, say you want to control the All-Rams against the
All-Cowboys. You would set up your sliders like this:
All-Rams (Human) All Cowboys (CPU)
95 Accuracy 98
98 Pass Block 96
99 WR Catch 97
99 RB Ability 99
97 Run Block 99
96 Awareness 99
77 Knockdowns 78
75 Interceptions 85
93 Break Block 99
97 Tackling 99
90 FG Length 40
94 FG Accuracy 40
87 Punt Length 70
78 Punt Accuracy 70
60 KO Length 60
You should get very realistic results with these sliders, especially
with the running game. They should also work if one of your starters
go down with injury as well. If that happens just keep the sliders
the same and they will perform as usual.
The only exception is for the special teams for the CPU. You want
to try to increase the legth of the CPU's punts, while not making
the CPU into superplacekicker. Use the following settings for all
of your CPU teams:
FG Length - 40
FG Accuracy - 40
Punt Length - 70
Punt Accuracy - 70
KO Length - 60
I know what you're thinking though. "What if I want to play against
someone else and not against the computer?" No problem, just take the
average of the two ratings, and use those for the slider settings. That
should get you some accurate results. In that case, the above game would
look like this:
(Human)
Accuracy - 97
Pass Block - 97
WR Catch - 98
RB Ability - 99
Run Block - 98
Awareness - 98
Knockdowns - 78
Interceptions - 80
Break Block - 96
Tackling - 98
FG Length - 91
FG Accuracy - 93
Punt Length - 84
Punt Accuracy - 80
KO Length - 60
Also included on a seperate Worksheet are Penalty Sliders. I have used
these sliders in Madden 2003 and 2004 and they have always given me
good results.
-slidercalculator.xls was originally programmed by Jerry
Lacefield, and I have used it to figure out slider settings for all teams in this
roster. You can use it to calculate slider settings for any team that you
wish. Since the program was originally created for the consoles,
you will want to use the results in the High Attr column. Follow the
instructions as outlined above for each team.

My
name is Ashok Das and I love football from the past and present.
I have been doing this for 6 years. I’m a working man/student
with a wife and three children. I’m 39 years old and I have
been a Madden Fan for a long time. (Pc version is the best) Each
year I recreate all-time teams dating back to 2001 ps2 version.
Its just fantasy but I love it.
The
classic 2 rosters for 2005 can be used in the franchise mode.
Classic 2 is setup perfect for franchise. The classic1 roster
has more players on each team, but you will have to release a
few players from each team in order for the game to update to a
regular season in franchise mode.
My
intentions were to setup a classic season mode instead of
multiple seasons however,
Its
up to you on how you use the rosters.
Instructions:
Simply copy and paste the roster files into the Madden 2005
roster directory located in the documents folder. Start the game
and load either classic1 or classic 2 (classic 1 current teams
are 99% full with 99% accuracy on jersey numbers and player
info) some players such as
Michael
Irvin and Drew Pearson are wearing the same number #88.This is
really cool because they both actually wore that number. Also,
players with odd numbers for their position such as Alan Paige
and Bob Hayes are wearing their appropriate numbers (#88 and
#22). Some may disagree with a few of my selections, but simply
add or delete players from each team according to what you find
appropriate.
**
Please note that THIS IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE NFL or EA
Sports.
Although
there have been only 1 known issue, please understand that its
“play at your own risk.” The 1 issue occurs if you try and
play the classic1 roster in franchise without minimizing 90% of
the teams down 45-47 players give and take a few.
I
hope you find my work ok, and to those that don’t like them
please forgive me!!!
Peace

Rosters are for the pc only
*
If you want to edit players with odd numbers for their position
or players on the same team with the same number, simply right
click a player at the player management screen and choose the
second edit, then you actually can do mass editing of player
ratings without going into the individual editing which may
cause you to lose the odd but correct number (i.e. if you edit
Alan Paige in the individual editing screen, his number may
automatically change to another number so be careful. Its best
to change the entire player attributes at the team roster screen
by double clicking on the attribute itself, such as speed or
awareness etc…keep tabbing over once you type in a new
attribute.
